Di Tian Sui Chapter 10 (more of a thoughts on the translator calculators, then a translation)

 Made a replacing software that helps with translation of Five Arts texts. To synchronize checked a chapter from DTS《滴天髓阐微》, that I was wondering about before. Will post the result. Don't take it too seriously, its just a surface thing, to test the software. 

 Not sure it will make it online, however, as the code has security problems, even though it does its job well enough, so far. : )

《滴天髓阐微》上篇第10章 形象

Chapter 10 of the first part of Drops of Heavens Essence.  Image

两气合而成象，象不可破也。

The two qi combine to form an image , and the image should not be broken .

原注：天干屬木，地支屬火，天干屬火，地支屬木，其象則一。若見金水則破，餘仿此。

Original note: The heavenly stem belongs to wood, the earthly branches belong to fire or the heavenly stem belongs to fire, the earthly branches belong to wood, and their symbols are one. If you see metal or water, image will break, and the rest will be like this.

任氏曰：两气双清，非独木火二形也，如土金、金水、水木，木火、火土，相生各半五局。即相克之五局亦是也，如木土、土水、水火、火金、金木之各半用敌也。相克务须均敌，切忌偏重偏轻。若用金水，则火土不宜夹杂；如取水木，则火金不可交争。木火成象者，最怕金水破局。水火既济者，尤忌土来止水。各既如此，取运亦仿此而行。一路澄清，必位高而禄重；中途混乱，恐职弃而家倾。故此格最难全美，而看法贵在至精。若生而复生，乃是流通之妙；倘克而遇化，亦为和合之情。或谓理仅两神，似嫌狭少，不知格分十种，尽费推详。

Ren said: The two qi are both clear, and they are not just two shapes of wood and fire, such as earth, metal, metal and water, water and wood, wood, fire, and fire and earth, each generating half and half of each other. Since everyone is like this, getting luck pillars will also follow this way.  If you are clear along the way, you will be high and well-paid; if you are confused along the way, you will be afraid that your job will be abandoned and your family will be ruined. Therefore, the Frame格  is the most difficult to perfect, and the most important thing is to have the most precise view. If it is producing phase and then keep producing, it is the beauty of circulation; if in control phase the element combines and dissolves , it is also the feeling of harmony. So it may be said that there are only two gods(shens) in theory, which seems too narrow. In this charts there aren’t 10 types of frames, so we won’t deduce based on them.

Gmuli: Seems to be situation when 2 by 2 pillars in a chart repeat and are similar elements. And we say the 2 types of Qi shouldn’t be broken. Could be control or produce. There are many examples, they seem to fall into this. Wil translate 2-3.

Example 1:

此造木火各半, 两气成象, 取丁火伤官, 秀气为用。 四柱金水全无, 纯粹可观。

⺒运丁火临官, 南宫奏捷, 名高翰苑; 庚运官杀混局, 降知县。 夫南方之金, 尚有不

足, 将来西方之水, 难言无咎。

Chart is made of Wood(phases) and Fire(phases) in half, the two types of qi form Image, we will consider that ⺒Ding(10 stems) Fire as Hurting Officer(one of the 10 gods) is suppose to be used. In the Four pillars there is no Metal(phases) and Water(phases). At Geng/Wu Luck Pillar ⺒Ding (10 stems) as Fire(phase) sees its arriving Officer/5.Prosperous Stage(one of the 12 stages, located at Wu fire branch for Ding) with Geng on top. Had a victory in a place, then promoted based on that. At the same time on the Stems Geng Yang Metal (10 stems) arrives as Indirect Officer(7k) Chaos, soon after demoted to magistrate. The Metal (phase) on top of Fire wasn’t perfect, yet the Water phases later in life on top of Metal, will likely create much bigger problems.

Gmuli:It seems we observe what Ding is doing and that is what we are “using” as that is what the Image arrives at. That suggests that since its Wood and Fire Qi and Wood produces Fire, in the Stems(what is seen) the state of Ding Fire is where it all converge in. So Ding becomes what is usable.

We look for the 12 life stages, when Ding is at “Officer Arrival” or 5.Prosperous stage as Wu fire branch, when it comes he gets promoted. Yet Geng on top of it, is also arrival of 7K, so soon after everything is in  chaotic state and he is also demoted.

So again, the problem becomes breaking the “Image” from Geng.

Very interesting to see how the 12 life stages are used. We figure out what the important element/stem is then we view its Images in Luck Pillars. Interesting.

Another point of view can be that since all the chart is producing Fire, so Ding can control the Officers in a delicate way, that works great for when Ding is in prosperity for winning against someone. Yet the same Fire attacking Geng, would suggest also that Output that is created by everything may harm his own authority and superiors too. At the end both are just contradicting creating Chaos, the prosperity of the Hurting Officer and the Geng not fitting to the Images in the chart of pure produce of Fire.

Example 2:

This is also Wood(phases) Fire(phases) half and half, and the two qi form Image, which is not the situation with the former Hurting Officer(one of the 10 gods). The Sun Lord is Fire(phases), which is strongest in Summer(season). Wood(phases) are produced by the Fire(phases), and the frame/structure becomes flame, and it is not suitable to see Metal(phases) luck. Fire(phases) meets sheng(produce in cycle) to help. He became Governor of of a place; to Yin Metal (10 stems) Water (phases) years, Wood (phases) Fire (phases) are Hurting Officer (one of the 10 gods). Therefore, disaster cannot be avoided. The so-called "two people are the same Xin(heart), things can be smooth but irreversible."

Gmuli: Very strong fire here. Same pillar in Day and Year, with Images of Friend/Self. So the outside is mirroring what he is doing. Basically, when something different shows up it may lead to a problem.

“Fire meets sheng” may suggest Earth LP and APs help to weaken the very strong Self Image coming with the Fire, together. Both within and without, initially.

Metal and Water phases in Luck Pillars are hurting the Image. All wood and fire are damaged. At the same time the Officer(Water) is hurt by the incredible strong Fire everywhere. Officer so badly hurt from the Self as Fire, and as its basically the Self Image, reflected outside, at the same time the Self everywhere, being hurt from outside in an “unfamiliar”/”unknown” way from the Officer, at that period that can lead to a disaster. We can guess losing stability, losing control and attacking things that are suppose to provide it. May be called as “too strong” self/ego going against the authority of its current surrounding, when we notice it in a real situation.

 The last sentence seems clear by itself. When inside(Day) and outside(Year) are showing the same phase/element, also showing the person, all is in harmony, but without variety and without possibility to change the direction of the flow. When something else shows up attacked by the Self, problems could show.
